I am currently testing out the solution supplied by jlapchuk with Office 2013 and it seems to be working. It's not especially cumbersome imo.
So far I've only verified it to be working when testing on a "standalone VM" with a little help of the sticky keys trick (replace sethc.exe with cmd.exe) to the silent install scenario. But I'm doing a SCCM deployment right now, and I'm pretty confident that it will work just as fine.
